Prevention Education On Hiv/Aids

Project on Prevention Education on HIV/AIDS was started from March 2022 with 15 Part Time Peer Educators and one Project Co-ordinator to cover 6000 houses around Samathuvapuram in Thirumayam Taluk, Pudukkottai District, Tamil Nadu. Each peer educator is expected to cover 400 houses and provide prevention education on HIV/AIDS through house visits and group meetings. This project is supported by Mercury Phoenix Trust, United Kingdom. The duration of the project is one year. The peer educators are visiting the houses and educating the women and girls on the prevention of  HIV/AIDS.


Construction of Sanitary Block

The construction of sanitary block at Sita Rajaram Public School, Muthu Nagar, Hiraniyamangalam Mettupatti is under progress. The foundation digging work was completed. The steel was purchased and the rod pending and binding works are going on. This project is supported by The Project Solution, USA.

Sanitary Latrines cum Bathrooms

Constructed six latrines and six bathrooms at Sita Rajaram Polytechnic College for the use of 120 hostel students with the financial support from the Eu Can Aid, Belgium

 

CARD De-addiction Hospital

CARD has been running de-addiction hospital at Samathuvapuram since 2001. This project is supported by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. There are 15 beds in the hospital. The drug and alcohol addicts including psychiatric patients are treated in this centre. The duration of the treatment is 30 days. 15 staff working under this project. The de-addiction hospital is functioning in 8000 sq.ft. building that was constructed with the support of the Consulate General of Japan.

Specialties

The hospital is functioning in 10000 square ft. area building with four inpatient – wards, yoga hall, TV hall, counselling rooms, lab and pharmacy, doctors’ rooms, nursing station and store room. There are eight toilet and eight both rooms exclusively for the use of patients. Each patients ward has the sufficient space to accumulate five to seven patients. But only three patients are admitted in each ward due to COVID -19.

The patients are provided hygienic and nutritious  food from the canteen functioning  in the hospital campus.

Physiotherapy Clinic

A physiotherapy clinic has been run by CARD at Samathuvapuram for the last one year and this project is supported by the Associated Country Women of the World(ACWW), United Kingdom. One Physiotherapist, one nurse and one helper are working under this project from December 2020.


Mental Health Awareness Project

The Mental Health Awareness Project was started by CARD in November 2019 with the financial support from the Associated Country Women of the World(ACWW), United Kingdom.. The original project period was from November 2019 to  October 2020. Due to COVID -19 spread and lock down, the project period is extended  up to December  2020. Our field organizers contacted the headmasters of the selected schools and obtained  permission to conduct  the  mental health awareness programme in high schools.

It was planned to conduct mental health awareness camps for the benefit of high school children in 10 schools of Thirumayam Taluk, Pudukkottai District, Tamil Nadu through this project. Out of 10 schools, six schools were covered up to March 2020. 1268 children both boys and girls  studying from  8th to 12th standard attended the six mental health awareness programmes. The programme was conducted from  1.30 to 4.30 p.m. The headmasters of the above schools co-operated well and helped us to conduct the programmes successfully. The resource  persons addressed the students and cleared their doubts.

Our field organizers also visited the  colleges and fixed the awareness programmes  with the consent of the college management and the respective college Principals. The resource persons team visited the colleges and conducted  the programmes. Six awareness programmes  were conducted  and 1293 students  of boys and girls attended  the  programme.
