CARD had applied to the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India for grant-in-aid for setting up of Swadhar Shelter Home for Women at Pudukkottai and Ujjawalla Home at Tiruchirappalli. Both applications were recommended by the concerned State Government Authorities and the sanctions are awaited from the Government of India.
With the financial support from Trust 2000, United Kingdom, CARD distributed 20 sewing machines to the 20 women and girls who are trained for one year on Cutting andTailoring atSamathuvapuram Industrial School run by CARD. These women and girls will use these sewing machines and start their own tailoring units and generate income for their families.
In partnership with Project RAKT, CARD is receiving napkins donated by the donors. On receipt of the napkins, CARD is distributing them for the poor rural women and girls who have no access tosanitary napkins. They are provided educationon menstruationhygiene and the use of sanitary napkins. The women and girls are provided napkins to promote menstrual hygiene. Thanks to Project RKAT.
