Community Action for Rural Development (CARD) has outlined a comprehensive plan to undertake environmental development activities across various regions in Tamil Nadu. These initiatives focus on conservation, habitat restoration, and conflict mitigation to protect biodiversity and promote sustainable ecosystems. The planned activities include:
CARD aims to address the challenges of human-elephant conflict in the Kalakadu Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve and the Anamalai Tiger Reserve, both located in the Western Ghats. These efforts will focus on creating sustainable strategies to reduce conflicts, ensuring the safety of both human populations and Elephants.
As part of its conservation efforts, CARD plans to work in the country’s first sanctuary dedicated to the Slender Loris Eastern Ghats of Karur and Dindugal Districts of Tamil Nadu. This initiative will help protect the habitat of this elusive primate species and support broader nature conservation efforts through awareness programmes.
CARD is committed to work in the India’s first Dugong Conservation Reserve
in Palk Bay, covering areas in Thanjavur and Pudukkottai districts. This
project will focus on protecting the endangered Dugong species and
preserving their marine habitat by conserving the sea grass and promoting
bio-diversity.
To promote coastal ecosystem, CARD will undertake mangrove conservation projects in Muthupettai, Muthukuda, and Karankadu along Tamil Nadu’s east coast. These projects aim to restore and sustain vital mangrove forests, which play a crucial role in coastal protection and biodiversity support.
Through these initiatives, CARD strives to create a balanced approach to environmental conservation and community well-being. Foreign funding agencies and Corporate Companies interested to undertake projects under Corporate Social Responisbility may contact us through email: info@cardtn.org.in
